These requirements can be satisfied by evidence of equivalent courses elsewhere. Students are required to make up background courses if they do not have sufficient undergraduate mathematics. This background work should be ongoing or completed before applying to graduate school. Some applicants may be missing a single course, and if otherwise strong coursework leads to admission, then a leveling course may be available in a first semester of graduate school.
Applicants who have completed a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university can, upon approval of the program advisor, have up to 30 hours of coursework waived based on courses taken during the master’s degree that closely align with courses in the program.
